Helena
During the 1980s Helena was the entertainment
director for a popular nightclub and a chain of restaurants in the Los
Angeles area. Her innovative marketing practices
and musical passion secured her position for over a decade.
In the 1990s she became an avid creator of recycled artwork. Turning lost
and forgotten objects into marvelous symbols of hope, she produced whimsical
angels & fairies,
as well as copper ornaments of all shape and sizes. Commissioned to create
twenty-two personalized copper hearts as gifts for the cast of a major Broadway
production. Her last creation,
a three-panel,
mixed media copper mural extending over 6 feet, hangs at an affluent home in
Peachtree City.
Her involvement with the art community brought her to Crabapple Elementary in
Peachtree City GA, where under her direction the fifth-grade children created
a wall-size mural of felted artwork, which hangs permanently at the school.
She was chosen to demonstrate both, her felting and jewelry techniques in the
HGTV show “Crafters Coast to Coast”. Episode: HCC2 C-156. Although
felting has been around since the Iron Age, Helena pioneered a distinct new direction
in fiber arts and humbled at the opportunity to broadcast this newfound medium
to
a
worldwide
HGTV
audience in 2004..
Helena's artwork is published in Candie Cooper’s book: Felted Jewelry
- released by Lark Books in Spring 2007. Helena appeares in dozens of annual
festivals and art shows around the Metro Atlanta area. She has also been featured
in several magazines and periodicals, and currently exhibits at boutiques and
galleries in Georgia and Connecticut.
Helena served as the Product and Creative Director for Art & Expressions
Magazine, a local digest-sized publication committed to the arts & culture
of south Atlanta.
